The European Conference on Educational Robotics powered by Sparx Systems was a great success for the fourth time in a row. This year the HTL Hollabrunn hosted the international scientific conference for students in Lower Austria. Researchers gave over 120 participants insight into their current research. One of the presenters was Dr. David Miller, a former NASA employee who is currently a professor at the University of Oklahoma.

At the Botball competition during ECER, 17 student teams compete against each other with their self-made robots. Besides Botball and the PRIA Open competition in which no limitations on the robots apply, there was for the first time an aerial contest with autonomous flying robots to admire. Participating students presented their robot projects and experience to scientific model in English. Winner of the European Botball petition was the Al ru’ya Bilingual School of Kuwait, one of the international guest teams. Dr. Horst Kargl of Sparx Systems, the main sponsor of the conference, gave the Best Programming Award for outstanding flexibility of its software solution to the team of HTBLVA Spengergasse. The next possibility for robotics interested students to demonstrate their skills is the international final of the Botball competition at the Global Conference on Educational Robotics (GCER), which is taking place in July in the United States (Albuquerque, New Mexico).
